Torchlight Infinite will not sell items or crafting supplies for cash, Heng said. These things will "strictly to be obtained through grinding" to ensure fairness to all players D2R ladder items. Heng said the fact that Torchlight Infinite won't have any stamina meters or other systems that restrict player progress and stated that players will be given the "freedom to begin and stop their grinding at their own discretion."
It's not an easy way to go. Diablo Immortal, which Torchlight Infinite will probably be compared to, was heavily attacked at the beginning for its pay-to-win mechanics, even though it reported making greater than $50m during its first month. If asked what learnings XD Inc. has learned from the Diablo Immortal launch, Heng didn't mention the microtransactions that were a source of controversy however, he said that many problems with Diablo Immortal stemmed due to a lack of understanding how to manage expectations from players.
"From our perspective, we believe that the majority of the public was unhappy with their expectations of how Diablo Immortal was presented as an ARPG game, however it made available as the ARPG MMO" Heng said.
Heng stated that Diablo Immortal's advancement systems and build choices are more narrow than Diablo consequently, and that could have deceived players who were looking for an authentic Diablo experience.
